Across Canada: August 17 - 19 - Gander, Dildo Run Provincial Park, Twillingate

From Elliston we drove to Dildo Run Provincial Park where we spent one night. They have laundry facilities so we caught up with that chore, and took lovely hot showers.

The next day we drove through Twillingate to Crow Head where we camped at Sea Breeze Park. In the photo above our rig is on the uppermost level furthest away. This was more of a boondocking site, with no services, nor did we pay anything. Lots of trails to hike in the area.

Twillingate is very photogenic. We attended the Twillingate Dinner Theatre one evening and enjoyed a wonderful lobster dinner. The musical show was great - a taste of Newfoundland culture. We both ate lobster and mussels. Yum! When we got back to the trailer the Milky Way shimmered above us in all of its glory.

More hiking trails. We saw a couple of whales swim by. We sat at the top of a cliff, utterly content on a warm, sunny day.

Several hiking trails took off from the area. On a rainy day Tim went to the Wooden Boat Builder's Museum and I visited the Twillingate Museum. We visited the Auk Island winery and bought some wine. I have to confess it's pretty awful.

Lots of plovers on the beach in the evening - Common Ringed, I believe. A beautiful place to camp.
